The Campbellford BIA has a lot planned for this year:
- More advertising, more promotion, more street improvement.
- A new handbook for the BIA membership. It will include the provincial act and municipal bylaw that detail what a BIA is all about and what it can do.
- The Annual Waterfront Festival budget has increased from approximately $6,000 to $12,000.
- We are also getting the trees back that have gone over the years.
- During to next few years we are planning to replace banners; putting up more and adding more colour in them.
Campbellford First Impression Project
The Municipality & Campbellford Business Improvement Area (BIA) invite interested business owners and residents to participate in the upcoming First Impressions Exchange with the Town of Port Perry. The project will involved a team of volunteers visiting each community. The results will reveal the first impression a community conveys to outsiders, including tourists, potential investors and retirees. It offers a fresh perspective on the community’s appearance, services and infrastructure and helps communities learn about their strengths and shortcomings.A presentation on the project with an opportunity for questions will be held:
- Thursday April 22nd at 7:00pm in Council Chamber, 66 Front Street South, Campbellford

Waterfront Festival Plans
Who Needs A Bridge When You Can Cross by Cardboard Boat?
Yes, we are talking about the annual Campbellford BIA Waterfront Festival which will take place Saturday, July 31st, 2010 at the Old Mill Park. We anticipate the 15th Waterfront Festival to be “the” festival of the year, where everyone will feel welcome and will enjoy all that Campbellford has to offer. Thanks to the many local merchants, sponsors and volunteers who put time and effort in the event, the festival will include a variety of live music performances and exciting entertainments, games for all ages, food, and of course the popular cardboard boat races. Fireworks display will be magnificent as usual. In order to expend vendors, events and entertainments, part of Grand Road may be closed off for a few hours.
The highlight of the festival is the cardboard boat races, where contestants construct boats out of actual cardboard with a little help from some duct tape and special paint. Have fun! Try your luck at floating a cardboard vessel across the canal!
Why not make waves this year and build a boat to promote your business!
Waterfront Festival Volunteers Needed
If you would like to become involved with the Waterfront Festival as a volunteer, vendor, sponsor or would like to make a donation, please contact the Campbellford BIA at 653-4335 or you can find out more information on our website at www.CampbellfordBIA.ca.In Season - The Best of St. Paddy’s Day
by Vicki ClarkeDid ya tip back a wee bit of the green ale on March 17th? Well if ya do claim Ireland as your motherland, you most certainly appreciated the shamrocks on In Season's St. Paddy’s Day window. A beautiful shoppe, both inside and out, In Season tempts even those of us without the “green” to celebrate every day for the Patron Saint of Ireland – at least this month anyway. Remember, "May ya be in heaven a half hour before the devil knows yer dead".
Pictured with Jane Wellard of the BIA is the wee colleen Jenny Thomson from In Seasons.
Bridge Closure Party
Campbellford Bridge will be closed for repair, June 18 week-end. Let’s have a Monday party! The bridge will close at 8 pm on Friday, June 18 and is scheduled to re-open at 6 am on Monday, June 21. Work scheduled to be done includes replacing the wearing surface, replacing joint seals, sidewalk repairs and traffic control maintenance.
When the bridge is back with its “new clothes of asphalt” let’s have a Monday party! Contact the Secretary to be included in this promotion.
Community Improvement Plan
Thinking of making some changes to your business this year? Why not look into the Trent Hills Downtown Community Improvement Plan. The plan goals are the beautification of downtowns, commercial revitalization, heritage preservation, promotion of tourism and much more. Businesses who want to improve their buildings and would meet one of the plans goals can obtain technical and financial incentives to make these changes. Many of the businesses you see in Campbellford that have been improved have taken advantage of this opportunity. We encourage all of our membership to strive to make Campbellford a beautiful and inviting place to shop and do business. To find out more about this program please visit the Community Improvement Plan webpage @ http://www.trenthills.ca/en/services/community_improvement_plan.asp or visit the municipality for a brochure.
