The Barbarian Charity BBQ

On Monday, May 24th, 2010, The Barbarian, located at 25 Front St. North will offer a Charity BBQ and Live Entertainment. All businesses who would like to join the celebration are invited to call Cameron Smith at 632-0513.

Merchant Yard Sale

Don’t we all love yard sales!
Well, on Saturday, May 29th, 2010, downtown Campbellford will be having its Summer Yard Sale – All members who wish to participate will select items from their store and offer them on a table outside of their establishment.

Campbellford Bridge will be closed for repair, June 18 week-end

The downtown Campbellford Bridge will close at 8 pm on Friday, June 18 and is scheduled to re-open at 6 am on Monday, June 21. Work scheduled to be done includes replacing the wearing surface, replacing joint seals, sidewalk repairs and traffic control maintenance. We thank the repair team for working on the bridge in this manner instead of the possible two weeks it might of taken if they tried to keep the bridge open and work on it at the same time.

When the bridge is back with its “new clothes of asphalt” let’s have a Monday party! Contact the Secretary to be included in this promotion

Windows Display

The MacLaren Rabbit Family
written by Vicki Clarke

Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-tail were good little bunnies because they prettied up MacLaren’s Pharmacy windows for Easter. Dyed eggs, cuddly rabbits and chicks, and all the pastel colours of the Easter season invite all the other Campbellford bunnies to find the best Easter treats ever in the local IDA. Yep, stay out of Mr. McGregor’s store and make your way hippity-hopping down the path to MacLarens.

The little bunny sisters were helped in the creative window design by Shirley Roberts, Mary Anne Taylor and Tina Turner pictured with Jane Wellard of the Campbellford BIA.

May window display theme is Mother’s Day to be judged May 3rd, 2010

Waterfront Festival 2010

WHO NEEDS A BRIDGE WHEN YOU CAN CROSS BY CARDBOARD?

Everything is getting in place for the Campbellford BIA Waterfront Festival, which will take place Saturday, July 31st, 2010 at the Old Mill Park. We anticipate the 15th Waterfront Festival to be “the” festival of the year, where everyone will feel welcome and will enjoy all that Campbellford has to offer.

The festival will include a variety of live music performances and exciting entertainments, games for all ages, food, fireworks, and of course the popular cardboard boat races. In order to expend vendors, events and entertainments, part of Grand Road may be closed off for a few hours.

On July 31, 2010, please join us and let’s offer Campbellford and its visitors, the best Waterfront Festival they’ve ever experienced !

If you would like to become involved with the Waterfront Festival as a volunteer, vendor, sponsor or would like to make a donation, please contact the Campbellford BIA at 705-559-1698 or you can find out more information on our website at www.CampbellfordBIA.ca.

Campbellford First Impression Project

First Impressions Exchange with the Town of Port Perry. The project involves a team of volunteers visiting each community.  The results will reveal the first impression a community conveys to outsiders, including tourists, potential investors and retirees. It offers a fresh perspective on the community’s appearance, services and infrastructure and helps communities learn about their strengths and shortcomings.

For more information visit: www.reddi.gov.on.ca/firstimpressions.htm
If you are interested in being a project volunteer, please contact Campbellford BIA @ 559-1698 info@campbellfordbia.ca

Concerns about Graffiti

Some buildings in Campbellford have been painted with graffiti. The police was informed and we ask BIA members to be vigilant and report any new graffiti to the local police.

Community Improvement Plan

Thinking of making some changes to your business this year? Why not look into the Trent Hills Downtown Community Improvement Plan. The plan goals are the beautification of downtowns, commercial revitalization, heritage preservation, promotion of tourism and much more. Businesses who want to improve their buildings and would meet one of the plans goals can obtain technical and financial incentives to make these changes. Many of the businesses you see in Campbellford that have been improved have taken advantage of this opportunity. We encourage all of our membership to strive to make Campbellford a beautiful and inviting place to shop and do business.

To find out more about this program please visit the Community Improvement Plan webpage or visit the municipality for a brochure.

If you have any news that you would like to share with other BIA members such as store events or anniversaries, please email information to info@campbellfordbia.ca.
